(lot of 2) Exceptional French Louis XV style bedroom set, Millet a Paris (Maison Millet), late 19th c., each finished in matched kingwood veneers, with bronze dore scrolling foliate mounts, rising on whorl-shaped sabots, stamped maker's mark, comprising: (1) armoire/ wardrobe, having openwork fanned crest, above dual cabinet doors faced with beveled mirror plates, enclosing adjustable shelving, approx 102"h, 65"w, 21"d; (1) bed, with serpentine headboard and footboard, joined by conforming rails, exterior: approx 70"h, 71"l, 48"w, interior: approx 78"l, 56.25"w **Provenance: Property from a distinguished private collection**

09.03.26: Upon close visual examinations, I note that the bed and armoire stand sturdy, each having comparable degrees of typical minor surface wear such as small nicks, abrasions, and light spotting commensurate with age and use, all ormolu elements appear securely mounted throughout both structures and retain an overall uniform tone with typical light patination and mellowing, the bed having a few small veneer chips, seemingly contained the top edges of side rails and the footboard, a couple of these spots with filled concealment and finish touch ups,  one of the scrolled ends of the side rails with a minor professional restoration (see image)

The armoire doors remain tight and secure on hinges, each operating smoothly, and securely stay closed when the locked position, mirror plates are securely encased within framing, and have a few minute spots of typical minor silver loss/ spotting, the interior shelving appears to be sturdy, the bulging bombe sides with some minute, stable splits along the grain of veneer and small air bubbles (see images), I observe a minor professional restoration at the central lower edge of doors directly above the ormolu mount on the apron (see image), additionally I note inherent shallow gouges/ chipping at either side of hinges consistent with intrinsic rubs against the veneer when doors are opened and closed
