(pair) French Louis XVI style giltwood armchairs/ fauteuils, 19th c., each having padded back, seat, and armrests in worn tapestry upholstery, with nailhead trim, rising on fluted tapered legs, approx 36"h, 23"w, 20"d, seat height: approx 18.5"h

04.15.25: I note both chairs are presently intact and sturdy, appearing secure throughout joinery, the tapestry upholstery is heavily worn, with comparable degrees of weft separation (broken weft), tears, runs, and small holes, as well as loose threads and loss, and typical discoloration/ staining commensurate with age and use, upholstery remains relatively taut and securely bound throughout, the patinated nail head trim also remaining secure, the gilt finish of the frame exhibits tonal variations throughout, primarily from areas of discoloration associated with patination, spotting, mellowing, rubs, and a build-up of surface grime commensurate with age and use, there are typical minor chips, some with visible underlying gesso and iron red oxide, the reverse side of the seat back with some larger segments of gilt loss, overall there is typical minor separation that appears stable, and minor surface wear such as light nicks and abrasions, all being commensurate with 19th century origin
