(pair) Large Chinese cloisonne enamel square ice chests on stands, each having rectangular covers with pierced lucky coin motifs, dual side handles, with repeating calligraphic and stylized "shou" characters on teal ground, the interiors lined with rosewood paneling, overall: approx 32"h, 27"w, 27"d **Note: Chinese cloisonne ice chests, previously being crafted of wood, were popularized in the Qing dynasty for traditional use of cooling food and beverage, but were also used to diffuse cool air permeating through the pierced covers**
04.15.25: I note that both chest are presently intact and sit comfortably atop accompanying stands, the covers also nesting comfortable and securely, structure overall stands sturdy, the exposed metal trim with typical tonal variations associated with light patination, rubs, and mellowing of the gilt finish, the cloisonne being overall well-preserved, with scattered typical losses, most affected areas being quite small in size the chests also having varied amounts of scattered professionally filled restoration, and there is typical minor pitting inherent to the enamel curing process, the wood lining the interior remaining secure with typical minor panel separation, overall there is typical minor surface wear such as enamel chipping, minor nicks, and small dings/ dents to the metal, all being commensurate with age and use
