(lot of 2) Collegiate cadet riding boots and spurs, (pair) Vintage Lucchese brown leather military cadet uniform riding boots, having tall shaft with upper buckle fastener, marked Lucchese Boot Co. with customized inscription "John Hamlin" to interior, accompanied by original worn Lucchese branded box addressed to John Hamlin, College Station, Texas, accompanied by brown leather accessory straps and pair of boot hooks, no size marked, approx 19"h, 10.5"l (toe to heel), 4"w, box: approx 5"h, 25"w, 14"d; (pair) August Buermann spurs, with chain strap, marked Star Steel Silver to interior, yoke: approx 3"w; 11lbs total (for shipping purposes only) **Provenance: These boots were worn by Chester Helmer (San Antonio, Texas, 1920-2001, TAMU Graduate of 1942), who passed them down to his nephew, Donald Burg (San Antonio, Texas, 1939-2024, TAMU Graduate of 1961). Texas A&M University's "senior boots" tradition is a prominent rite of passage in the Corps of Cadet's Final Review graduation ceremony. Each year, graduating juniors debut their senior boots at the Final Review to salute the graduating Corps of Cadets class and assume their new role as seniors. Custom-made senior boots are often passed down from generation to generation and considered a cherished possession among Aggie Cadets. The last two photographs in the listing feature these boots worn by Chester Helmer, c.1943, and Donald Burg, c.1960.**
