(lot of 2) Palatial framed Continental School oil on canvas paintings, Village River Landscapes with Sailboats, apparently unsigned, relined, vertical seams to canvas, each sight: approx 89"h, 37.75"w, overall: approx 93"h, 42"w, 100lbs total **Provenance: This lot is part of a four-panel set offered as three separate lots in this auction. Previously owned by a fifth-generation Italian industrialist, who displayed the set in his 17th-century villa in Vicenza, Italy, before bringing it to Texas in the early 1980s.**

4.14.26-**Please note this is one of four works in this auction offered as three separate lots, which may be assembled to form a continuous pastoral scene, though each panel may also be displayed independently** In my opinion regarding LOT: I am not an expert on such works, a UV light examination reveals an old varnish layer across the surface of each canvas, both canvases have been stabilized through relining, there are vertical seams which run the length of each composition and may indicate how the original canvases were constructed from joined sections, painted surfaces present with craquelure throughout, there are scattered areas of inpainting, some paint flakes, minor blemishes, and light abrasions, along with areas of light surface grime and mild discoloration to each work, both frames show typical overall small losses to the decorative trim and molding, including lines, trim loss and wear, as well as areas of gilt loss and exposed gesso, all commensurate with age, handling and display** **Canvas with Perched Bird: there is scattered inpainting, mainly concentrated in the lower section of the work and to the bird, there is a small possible stabilized repair (line) to the central right canvas near the frame border, and minor scattered paint flakes** **Canvas with Lady: I observe visible paint flakes/loss primarily concentrated to the upper left center and lower quadrants, see images, inpainting noted along the lower canvas
