(lot of 3) French Louis XVI style gilt-metal and marble garniture set, late 19th c., including: (1) mantle clock, having urn-form finial above vasiform supports, centering white enameled dial, with Roman numeral hour markers and Arabic second markers, time-and-strike movement marked Japy Freres, rising on turned feet, accompanied by Apollo mask pendulum, lacking bell, observed operating, in need of adjustment to keep good time, approx 18.25"h, 8.5"w, 4"d; (2) conforming two-branch candelabra garnitures, central torch issuing scrolled arms, approx 11.5"h, 9"w, 3.75"d; 21lbs total CR 8.18.25- As noted in the catalog description, the clock was observed operating but is in need of adjustment in order to keep good time. The pendulum is present and the suspension spring is intact. As mentioned, it is lacking a bell. The clock winds quite easily and the movement responds to winding, though the clock appears to run slightly slow. As with all of our antique clocks, this piece would likely benefit from a professional adjustment and a thorough cleaning of the movement. Detailed condition reports are not included in this catalog.
