02.13.26 - In my opinion regarding LOT 2078: As described the items housed in the shadowbox have not been examined outside of the frame, I note that all items remain securely mounted to their respective fabric backing, and the frames are structurally secure with typical minor surface wear such as a few minute nicks at edges commensurate with use/ hanging, the metallic thread of the epaulettes with patination, one with a couple of minor nicks to the edges of outer rope trim (see images), this epaulette also with an off-center "Excelsior" button that could be easily resolved from gaining access to the back of frame to tighten, the glass of the shadowbox would benefit from a gentle cleaning of the interior side, the helmet plates are mounted to a plush black velvet backing and exhibit patination/ oxidation, and well as sparse, minute pitting commensurate with age
