(3 pieces) Patinated bronze outdoor sculptural group, Monet Painting en Plein Air at Giverny, from the "Great Contributors" series, signed in cast Gary Lee Price (American, b.1955), dated 2008, numbered 1/ 40, Kolob Sculpture Works foundry stamp, comprising three pieces, including: (one) life-size figure of Claude Monet (French, 1840-1926) seated on a garden bench, one arm holding paintbrush, the other resting on the knee with palette, approx 51"h, 58"w, 55"d; (one) opened case of painting materials on stool, approx 31.5"h, 22"w, 17"d; (one) canvas with cast representation of Monet's "Waterlilies" resting on an easel, approx 61"h, 27.5"w, 29"d **PLEASE NOTE: All of the cast stone and garden pieces in this auction have inherent flaws and evidence of outdoor use. Most are likely to have small chips, hairlines or imperfections. Please assume that they are not in perfect condition and bid accordingly. Per our terms, there will be no refunds based on condition.** **Note: Gary Lee Price specializes in large-scale figural bronzes, particularly American politicians and global historical icons rendered in life-sized scale. Academically trained in painting and drawing at the University of Utah, Price has remarked on his affinity for Impressionist painting and Claude Monet's artistic contribution to the movement. Following a family trip to Monet's home studio in Giverny, France, where the artist perfected his "en plein air" approach to painting, Price was inspired to create this sculptural group of the "Father of Impressionism" for his "Great Contributors" series. The figure Monet is rendered in the act of painting one of his famed "Waterlilies" compositions. The life-sized scale of the sculpture group transports the viewer to the Giverny garden studio and simulates the experience of being an on-looker to Monet's creative process while composing one of the most notable paintings in Impressionist art history; a new casting retails by the artist for $66,800** Detailed condition reports are not included in this catalog.
