09/18/2026: In my opinion regarding LOT : 3197- please note that I am not an expert on art, the painting was examined while hanging, please refer to the online images for views of the rear canvas, the canvas has been stabilized through relining, UV light examination reveals a heavy old varnish layer with scattered areas of differing fluorescence consistent with inpainting and prior conservation/restoration, the strong fluorescence of the varnish may obscure additional restoration, the surface exhibits areas of uneven texture and slight irregularity, particularly along portions of the upper edges and at the bull’s forehead, some of which may relate to prior conservation or old repairs, I note a very thin horizontal gouge/abrasion with associated paint loss in the cloud passage beneath the winged putto, scattered minute paint imperfections with a few small flakes and losses, light surface accretions and some variation to the surface sheen, the canvas hangs slightly loose within the frame, the frame is stable with some gapping noted at the upper joints, along with nicks, mellowing, rubs and wear to the finish, in my opinion, overall the work remains visually impressive and retains a commanding presence despite with the mentioned age-related wear and conservation history
