Book: published in 1716, the text in Spanish, Events in the Life of King Leopold I (1640-1705) Holy Roman Emperor, etc. reigning 1658-1705, the book in three parts covering from 1657 to 1687, the title page reads in part "Admirables Effectos De La Providencia Sucedidos En La Vida E Imperio De Leopoldo Primero Invictissimo Emperador De Romanos," printed in Amberes (Antwerp) by Henrico (1673-1721) and Cornelio (1661-1728) Verdussen, on the opposite page a portrait of Ferdinand III (1608-1657), Archduke of Austria, King of Hungary, and Croatia, King of Bohemia, etc., the interior with many portraits and illustrations, the interior is mostly good with some foxing and page loss near the back of the book, the cover with soiling and spots, the back cover is in very poor condition apparently due to water also affecting the last several pages of the book, approx 821 pages, bound in vellum, approx 12.75" x 8.25" x 2.75", 5.5lbs
**Provenance: From the estate of Connie Todd (Constance Clare Todd, Austin, Texas, 1941-2024). For many years, Connie Todd was the personal assistant to prominent Austin-based book publisher, photographer, and author Bill Wittliff (William Dale Wittliff, American, active in Austin, Texas, 1940-2019). Bill Wittliff wrote celebrated screenplays such as "Lonesome Dove" (1982), "Legends of the Fall" (1994), and "Barbarosa" (2000), and founded the regionally-oriented publishing company, Encino Press, with his wife Sally in 1963. Connie Todd later served as the founding director of the Wittliff Collections at Texas State University from 1997-2010, transforming it into an internationally-acclaimed collection through noteworthy acquisitions such as the Cormac McCarthy archive. After retiring from Texas State, Connie Todd spent time traveling the world with friends and family.**
