British Art Nouveau period rotating bookcase, attributed to Shapland & Petter, Barnstaple, early 20th c., two-tier tiger oak case with floral marquetry, scalloped apron, rising on quadripartite swivel base, ending on castors, approx 32"h, 21.75"w, 21.75"d
9.24.24-In my opinion regarding LOT: 1282-the bookcase is overall intact and in sturdy condition, it does have a bit of give inherent to its construction, the wheels would likely benefit from being oiled, as they are a bit squeaky/stiff, the top shows a small wood loss at one floral bud and to a small area of the string inlay, I further note some minor dark spots and overall the top exhibits remnants or the print of bubble wrap in the finish, I am sorry, I do not know if the finish is original, I have tried to photo however, it is very difficult, the whole is largely intact with only some light wear, and rubs and tonal variation as commensurate with its age and use.
