Large Italian Baroque style sideboard/ cabinet, David Michael, 20th c., retailed by House of Rho, in bookmatched rosewood veneers with stringwork trim, having shaped top, above three cabinet doors, revealing fixed-height shelves, rising on stepped platform and bun feet, maker's plaque at back, approx 46"h, 94"w, 25"d **Note: suggested retail price of $45,000** **Provenance: the contents of a retired Wall Street executive's lakeside compound**
02.05.26 - In my opinion regarding LOT 1168: I note that the sideboard is structurally sturdy, the veneer having a slight intentional antiqued finish including deliberate small nicks/ faux woodworm, visible wood grain, and segmented banded trim to accentuate the historical Baroque style of the modern design, the doors remain tight on the hinges and retain overall well-kept interiors with sturdy shelving, there are inherent tonal variations of the veneer, including areas of bleeding from the dark finish enhancing the natural figuring of the rosewood inherent to creation, I observe a minute seam of separation along the grain at the upper region of the central cabinet, and a very sparse amount of typical minute surface wear such as light abrasions commensurate with gentle use
