03.14.25: In my opinion regarding LOT 2276: I note that the commode is presently intact and structurally sturdy, I believe the painted finish to be later, as I have not observed other Dixon-Powdermaker examples with this same chinoiserie decoration, the distressed finish having scattered peeled losses of varied degree, with visible wood and white primer or undercoat visible at these spots of loss, much of this peeling is commensurate with craquelure, the drawers operate smoothly, with the patinated gilt metal pulls remaining securely fixed to front panel, I observe typical minor surface wear such as minor abrasions, nicks, and chips, as well as a small water ring at the center of top, all being commensurate with age and use
