English George III period mahogany bureau bookcase, late 18th c., molded cornice with dentils, pair of glazed cabinet doors with astragals, two adjustable-height shelves, slant-front panel enclosing a small mirrored cabinet door, small drawers and pigeon holes, above four graduated long drawers, on ogee bracket feet, partial paper label verso for Allens' Depositories, Ltd., Bournemouth West, back panels stenciled "made in England," approx 86"h, 44.5"w, 26.5"d **Provenance: The Tarrytown, Austin, Texas estate of Janice Holliman Stanfield**

Condition

12.2.25- In my opinion regarding LOT: 2158- the case is overall stable and sturdy, I observe some nicks, rubs, tonal variation, typical rubs, wear, and some small losses, the cornice does show some impressions along the top, doors open smoothly, there is a small wood patch repair near the left escutcheon, interior mullions are secure and I do not observe any chips or cracks to glass, the fall front opens to a well fitted interior, there is some sagging to the small drawers, the larger drawers open smoothly, bottoms are stable, they do exhibit some separation of bottom panels,  all mentioned commensurate with age and use
