English George II period figured walnut chest-on-chest, 18th c., having stepped cornice, above five drawers with banded trim, flanked by canted and fluted corners, lower case fitted with three additional drawers, lowest drawer with starburst parquetry inlay in concave niche, on bracket feet, intact with stable splits and filled reinforcement at side panels, approx 74.5"h, 43.5"w, 21.75"d
10.14.25: I note that the chest stands sturdy and remains structurally secure throughout, having some scattered splits and panel separation, all appear stable, the side panels with filled reinforcement, the inlaid herringbone trim and lower sun motif are free from notable losses, the drawers open relatively smooth with some slight stubbornness upon closing, the lowermost drawer of top and bottom chest lacking escutcheon with some remnants of hardware attachment (see images), I observe glue reinforcement to a couple of the drawers at the dovetails and separation of the bottom paneling, I note minor evidence of old woodworm commensurate with origin, and patination of the metal hardware, there is scattered minor surface wear such as some small veneer chips, abrasions, and nicks commensurate with age and use
