English Georgian oak Welsh dresser with clock, 18th c., in two parts, shelved upper case, fitted with painted metal dial with foil accents, with Roman numeral hours, rising on rectangular base with three drawers, original works removed, battery pack operation, operational status unknown, overall: approx 89"h, 69"w, 17"d

Condition

8.22.24-LOT 3394: I note that the dresser is presently intact and structurally secure, the back paneling and shelves of the dresser appear to have a lesser degree of age/ wear and may be a later-added renovation that we estimate to be during the first half of the 19th century, a couple of these shelves having shallow splits along inherent grain stretch marks (see images), the medial surface exhibits staining and spotting, as well as light surface wear such as shallow abrasions commensurate with use, there is evidence of old woodworm commensurate with origin, I note that the lower shelf and bottom panels of drawers, which operate smoothly, exhibit typical minor panel separation but remain intact, the painted metal clock face exhibits craquelure and some small flaked losses near edges, the glass being free from observed fractures or chipping, all commensurate with age, I observe that the original movement of the clock has been removed and replaced with a battery pack to function, the operational status of which is unknown
