English Regency brass-inlaid rosewood sofa table, 19th c., rectangular top with dual drop leaves, centered frieze drawer, fluted columnar supports, x-form cross stretcher, on turned feet, approx 30"h, 31"w, 23"d
01.23.25: In my opinion regarding LOT 3391: I note that the table is presently intact and structurally secure, the hinges of the drop leaves operating smoothly and remaining securely fastened, the brass having typical tonal variation arising from mellowing, patination/ oxidation, and sparse light spotting, the central tabletop marquetry having a small number of scattered minor losses commensurate with age and use, a few spots of the brass string inlay having visible glue reinforcement to prevent lifting, the metal also having scattered minor nicks/ dings and sparse pitting, part of the capital of one columnar support lacking elements and having visible glue reinforcement, the drawer operating smoothly and retaining a well-kept/ clean interior, the tabletop having slight alligatoring/ crazing of the varnish or sealant applied to the veneer, I observe a small number of typical minor splits and some slight separation along a few seams, all remaining stable at this time, and there is typical surface wear commensurate with age and use such as light abrasions, nicks, and veneer chips, including a segment along one side of the cross stretcher, others being overall minor and commonly observed in antique furniture of 19th century origin
