07.09.2026- In my opinion regarding LOT 3176: Upon close visual examination, I note that the figure sits comfortably and securely on the integral base via an iron rod, the wings are inherently removeable and sit securely on the back when attached, the painted finish exhibits typical minor surface wear such as light discoloration, small areas of craquelure, and scattered flaked losses with visible underlying gesso, the parcel-gilt elements with some small spots of gilt-painted touch ups, there is a seam running across the top of the head and down the sides of the neck that I believe to be reinforced based upon UV light examination and some minor glue residue, one of the arms with old wax residue but I do not know it’s origin, glass eyes remain securely inset within sockets, and there is a stable split extending down the back of the figure, which does not appear to pose a risk to the structural integrity, additionally I observe minor evidence of old woodworm commensurate with origin
