Eliza Newton Squire?" attached at verso, small patched repairs, canvas relined, sight: approx 35"h, 32"w, overall: approx 38.5"h, 35.5"w, 11.5lbs **Provenance: the Stanley Family's fine Tarrytown Estate. Purchased at Karla Katz Antiques, New Orleans, Louisiana**
03/19/2026- In my opinion regarding LOT: 1184- please note I am not an expert on such paintings, the work appears overall intact and has been relined, a UV light examination reveals an aged varnish layer across the surface with two possible areas of restoration visible under UV, appearing as a faint linear repair, these areas correspond with the reverse where reinforcement patches are visible on the rear canvas, see images, UV light reveals localized areas of fluorescence consistent with older retouch and restoration, some inpainting and minor surface accretions are present, the paint surface shows inherent variation in thickness with some light spotting, minor imperfections and natural irregularities to the paint layer, the relined canvas appears stable overall with the aforementioned conservation patches visible on the reverse, the frame exhibits minor nicks and light wear consistent with handling and display, overall the observed condition appears consistent with age and conservation
