Large carved marble sculpture, Nike (Goddess of Victory), signed Spanghero (Francesco Spanghero, Italian, 1892-1945), intact with restorations, approx 34.5"h, 9"w, 8.5"d, 70lbs

02.10.2026- In my opinion regarding LOT 3040: Upon reviewing this sculpture with my supervisor, in addition to a close visual and UV light examination, we believe the sculpture to be marble as opposed to a powdered composite, having scattered restorations at the tip of the wings, one of the wings with a stable hairline, as well as at one of the breasts, and to the elements held on either side of the figure’s waist, the front of the base appears to have been painted, however I am unsure of when or what it’s purpose is, the square base has been mounted to an additional platform base, this secondary base has a possible area of restoration at the front corner, however area does not fluoresce and as such I am uncertain (see images), I note a few scattered minor chips, and some light tonal variations of the surface due in part to slight surface grime/ discoloration commensurate with age and use/ display
