French Henri II style oak desk/ writing table, 19th c., rectangular top with carved foliate lunette trim, over frieze drawer with grotesque mask pull, rising on stretcher-joined twisted supports terminating on turned feet, approx 28.75"h, 39.25"w, 23.25"d
09.25.24: In my opinion regarding LOT 2355: I note that the table is presently intact and structurally sturdy, the top having tonal variations throughout due to areas of fading and light staining commensurate with age and use, there is filled reinforcement of seam separation around the trim of table top, as well as a central split with filled restoration, the drawer currently operates smoothly, the carved grotesque mask pull being well-preserved, I observe minute evidence of old woodworm, and typical small chips at the lower supports and stretcher, some with minute filled concealment, and other typical minor surface wear such as light abrasions and nicks
