French Louis Philippe period marble-top walnut commode, mid 19th c., ogee frieze drawer, above three additional drawers, on bracket feet, separation at side panels, refinished, approx 37.75"h, 50.25"w, 23"d
10.24.24: In my opinion regarding LOT 3361: As described the commode has been refinished, I note that the commode is presently intact and structurally sturdy, the marble top having inherent natural inclusions and fissures, as well as a minor professional restoration to the center of front edge, and with a small number of typical minor chips to edges, the back left corner with partial loss, the right side panel having splits with a red wash filled reinforcement, as described there is separation at side paneling but remaining stable and structurally secure at this time, I observe light evidence of old woodworm commensurate with origin, there are scattered minor veneer chips, mostly concentrated along drawer edges, particularly the top edge of frieze drawer lip, some having filled repair, a couple of the drawers with minor splits to the veneer with filled reinforcement, all drawers currently operating smoothly, the interiors laid with wood grain patterned contact paper, the middle drawer lacking the brass escutcheon, and there is typical surface wear such as the aforementioned minor veneer chipping, as well as minor nicks and abrasions commensurate with age and use
