French Louis Philippe period figured walnut commode, mid 19th c., marble top, over case fitted with frieze drawer, and three standard drawers with shield escutcheons, on ogee bracket feet, approx 37.5"h, 45.25"w, 20.25"d
10.4.24: In my opinion regarding LOT 2416: I note that the commode is presently intact and structurally sturdy, the marble top having inherent natural inclusions and fissures, with some typical minor scuffing at corners, and minor chipping along unfinished back edge commensurate with contact against a wall over time, all drawers currently operate smoothly, the right-hand side edge of all standard drawers exhibit varied degrees of filled restorations, the lower two drawers with several central patches of filled restoration, I observe typical veneer chipping, notably at the trim below frieze drawer, and at the edges and corners of drawers, as well as a few typical minor splits, some with minute lifting along the seam, small nicks and abrasions, as well as minor veneer chipping, are commensurate with age and use, and are typical of mid 19th century furniture
