French Louis XVI walnut commode, 18th/ 19th c., rectangular case with brass stringwork inlay, fitted with three standard drawers, each with shield-form escutcheon, rising on tapering squared legs, top of case with filled brass losses, approx 34.25"h, 45"w, 19.25"d
02.03.26: As described there are losses to the brass inlay with filled and gilt-painted concealment concentrated at the top of case, also having some segments of slight lifting, I note that the commode is structurally sturdy, with smoothly operating drawers, the finish with tonal variations associated with staining, spotting, and fading, I observe typical reinforced splits and slight separation that remains stable throughout, and the veneer exhibits scattered minor chips commensurate with age and use, some with filled and patched concealment, and there is minor evidence of old woodworm commensurate with origin
