French Louis XVI style mahogany nightstand, 19th c., having inset marble top with pierced gilt metal three-quarter gallery, over three drawers, the top drawer being divided, framed by fluted corner posts, over medial shelf, rising on tapered legs, approx 28.25"h, 17.5"w, 11.75"d
05.06.25: In my opinion regarding LOT 3401: I note that the nightstand is presently intact and structurally sturdy, the marble top remaining securely inset with inherent natural inclusions and fissures, as well as a minor stable hairline extending from the back edge, and some typical surface discoloration commensurate with use, the metal elements remaining securely mounted with tonal variation associated with patination, with loss to the lower edge of trim on the uppermost drawer which has been replaced a segment of gilt-painted wood, another drawer having a minor split to metal banding remaining secure, the drawers currently operate smoothly with overall well-kept/ clean interiors, the top drawer with a small amount of visible epoxy reinforcement of the escutcheon to drawer front, the lower loose shelf nests within the legs comfortably, I observe some typical minor splits and small fills commensurate with age and use, as well as typical minor surface wear such as nicks, abrasions, and small chips, all being expected with 19th century origin
