French Louis XVI style walnut secretaire a abattant / fall-front secretary, late 19th c., having shaped marble top, above frieze drawer, and fall-front cabinet door revealing worn green leather writing surface with gilt tooling, fitted gallery with shelf over seven small drawers, over dual cabinet doors revealing additional interior drawer and open storage, flanked by fluted corner posts, rising on fluted tapering legs, ending on brass cap feet, approx 58"h, 38.75"w, 15.75"d

Condition

12.3.25- In my opinion regarding LOT 2163: I note that the secretaire stands sturdy, the marble top with some typical minor chipping at the edges commensurate with use, the front left corner of the marble intact with a minor restoration (see image), drawers operate smoothly, and the drop-front remains secure on its bracket hinges, when opened, it does appear very slightly warped, however this is typical and commensurate with use, the inset writing surface exhibits wear commensurate with use, including peeling, fading, abrasions, and light discoloration, surface remains securely inset throughout edges, the side panels with some minute, stable splits at the upper quadrant (see image), gilt-metal banding remains securely mounted with patination and some small minor nicks also consistent with age and use
