French Louis XVI style trumeau mirror, 19th c., white painted backboard with blue and green trim, centered high-relief carving of a bird, over gilt frame, centering grisaille mythological painting depicting Vertumnus and Pomona after Francois Boucher (French, 1703-1770), over similarly framed flat mirror plate, overall: approx 51.25"h, 40.25"w, 32.5lbs
9.26.25 - In my opinion regarding LOT 1388: As described the frame encasing a painting, which is on canvas that has been mounted to board, which has some minor spotting near the central quadrant, I note that the mirror is structurally secure with some typical minor separation at the corners that remains stable, the painted finish is deliberately distressed with a patchy application, and the mirror plate is free from observed fractures or chipping, having light hazing/ spotting and some minute silver loss, and the gilded finish exhibits typical rubs and patination commensurate with age and use, the bird above the painting with some splits around joinery but remains secure, also having a patch of filled reinforcement at the belly (see images)
