French Louis XVI style bronze dore mantel clock, late 19th c., shaped case surmounted by three Bacchanalian putti, with draped grape vines and wine ewers, inset Sevres style painted porcelain plaques, depicting winged cherubs and floral sprays, centering white enameled dial, with Roman numeral hour markers and Arabic second markers, time-and-strike movement marked Japy Freres, rising on platform base and turned-form feet, accompanied by pendulum, not currently operational, back access door lacking glass, approx 15.5"h, 20"w, 6.75"d, 20.75lbs
CR 7.2.25- In my opinion, the case is in overall good condition with bright gilding. I note only some minor, typical light patination, spotting and rubs. As mentioned, the back access door is lacking glass. As noted in the catalog description, the clock is not currently operational. It is accompanied by a pendulum and the suspension spring is intact. A key does not accompany it. The bell and striker are present, and the striker appears to have been bent slightly out of place so as to avoid making a loud chime, which is typical of antique clocks such as this. Though the clock winds easily with little resistance, the movement does not appear to respond to winding. As with all of our antique clocks, this piece would likely benefit from a professional adjustment and a thorough cleaning.
