Framed oil on canvas painting, Cows Grazing in a Rocky Mountain Landscape, signed lower right Gordon Coutts (California, 1868-1937), sight: approx 13.5"h, 23.75"w, overall: approx 19.25"h, 29.5"w, 6.25lbs **Provenance: the contents of a retired Wall Street executive's lakeside compound**
02.17.2026- In my opinion regarding LOT: 1217- I am not an expert on works by this artist, the canvas is overall intact, a UV light examination reveals no apparent areas of major restoration, only faint stretcher bar lines, minor craquelure consistent with age, a few very small isolated paint flakes and areas of slight thinness in the upper left quadrant, scattered minor surface accretions visible under UV which do not appear consistent with inpainting, light canvas rubs along frame edges from contact, tonal variation and inherent surface texture throughout, the surface presents with light discoloration and grime and would likely benefit from professional cleaning, the verso is darkened with some spotting, please refer to online images for full views of the rear canvas, I do not observe any apparent rips, tears, or restorations to the canvas, the frame is stable and intact with typical separation at the corner joints, minor nicks and scattered gilt loss particularly noted at the left corner joint and along the extremities, all observed wear appears consistent with age and handling
