Swiss Black Forest finely carved mahogany longcase clock, late 19th c., topper depicting two bear cubs, above branch-form facade with naturalistic bark and foliates, three bears carved in high relief, each with mouth agape revealing teeth, inset glass eyes and carved fur, glazed door with central gilt metal dial, Arabic hour markers, weight-driven time-strike-and-chime movement marked Heanina mit Garantie D.R.G.M., accompanied by weights and pendulum, retaining adhesive Made in Switzerland label to reverse, pendulum face matches dial and weights but does not fit properly on movement, not currently operational, approx 91"h, 28"w, 15"d **Provenance: A prominent Terrytown, Austin, Texas estate**
6.4.24-In my opinion regarding LOT: 4210- the carvings are very detailed, and they remain crisp and well-defined, I note some typical small wood losses, including loss of teeth on several bears, minor wood wear and finish wear, the current pendulum does not fit the clock, the wood pendulum stick was apparently broken and replaced while using the original bob (matches clock face), the replacement wood stick has no open slot to accommodate the movement crutch, thus the clock currently cannot operate, the three weights are encased in brass matching the clock face, chime responds properly as the minute hand is turned-quarter hour west minster, please see numerous images for your review
