Japanese sterling silver tea caddy, Arthur & Bond, Yokohama, late Meiji period (1868-1912)/ early Taisho period (1912-1926), domed cover surmounted by a coiled dragon, above tapered body with larger dragon among clouds in high relief, marked underfoot, approx 6"h, 4.5"diam, 12.61ozt
Condition
In my opinion regarding LOT 4297: I note that the tea caddy is presently intact, with a small dent to the rim of the cover, but the lid continues to securely fit around the mouth of the vessel, I do not currently observe any losses, including full retention of the thin dragon whiskers on the body and finial, I observe some minute spotting and sparse shallow, minor pitting concentrated near the shoulder of the caddy, there is typical light surface wear such as minute abrasions and a couple minor nicks to the body
