Framed color woodblock print on paper, Omiya in Rain or Night Rain at Omiya, Hasui Kawase (Japanese, 1883-1957), stamp and signature in bottom right with additional inscriptions along bottom edge, sheet with remnants of tape along edges, sight: approx 15.5"h, 11"w, sheet: approx 16.75"h, 12"w, overall: 20"h, 14"w, 3lbs 9.17.26-In my opinion regarding LOT : please note that I am not an expert on Japanese woodblock prints, the sheet appears overall intact, with naturally uneven deckled edges and some slight undulation to the margins, there are yellowed remnants of old mounting tape and adhesive along the margin edges and reverse, the upper and left margins display some variation and irregularity, with scattered toning, foxing, spotting, and light discoloration, the printed image remains well saturated, with some variation in ink application and printing texture that appears consistent with the hand-printing process, no apparent restorations, rips, or tears were observed to the sheet, the frame is intact, exhibiting scattered finish loss, wear, nicks, and rubs, the frame corners are slightly loose, overall the work retains a strong overall appearance with the mentioned age-related wear and mounting remnants Detailed condition reports are not included in this catalog.
