Framed oil on canvas painting, Alpine Mountain Landscape, signed lower left Fr. Hofbauer (Ferdinand Hofbauer, Austrian, 1801-1864), frame tag inscribed J. Hofbauer, sight: approx 28.25"h, 38.5"w, overall: 44.75"h, 55"w

10.1.25-In my opinion regarding LOT: 3194- please note that I am not an expert on such art, so have taken numerous high-resolution images for your review, the work was examined while hanging on the wall and the uppermost edge could not be fully accessed for inspection, the canvas appears possibly relined, a UV light examination reveals a heavy, older varnish layer which fluoresces unevenly, there is a stabilized line or possible repair visible at the juncture of the tree line and mountain in the central canvas, the painted surface displays inherent texture with scattered minor craquelure, faint spotting, and a few minute areas that may have been inpainted, I note a slim vertical small loss of paint at the upper and upper right edges, the frame is intact, there is a loss at the upper left corner where the ornamental embellishment is lacking and a visible split/gap in the joint/seam, further small consistent scattered losses to gilt with areas of exposed gesso, tonal variation, and general wear are also observed to the gilded surface, overall the work presents well with findings commensurate with the age, handling, and presentation of the work
