French Louis Philippe period "plum pudding" mahogany display bookcase, mid 19th c., stepped molded cornice, three glazed cabinet doors, revealing interior fitted for adjustable-height shelves, above three additional cabinet doors, revealing shelving and interior drawers, on bracket feet, approx 97.5"h, 101.5"w, 24"d
09.24.24: In my opinion regarding LOT 3093: I note that the bookshelf is presently intact and structurally sturdy, there is an inherent tonal variation of the mahogany, and the glass panes of the case doors is presently free from observed chipping or fractures, and would benefit from a thorough cleaning to resolve grime build-up commensurate with age, I observe a few typical minute split to the trim pieces, and some small veneer splits above the front left-hand foot, both front supports have a visible seam at joinery with glue reinforcement, there are some deep gouges along the left-hand side panel of upper case with remnants of a previous filled restoration, and some sparse, minor surface wear to cases such as light abrasions and small nicks to edges commensurate with age and use
