Japanese gilt lacquer document box (gold Maki-e Bunko-Bako), 19th c., the lid and sides featuring seasonal landscapes, some with rustic dwellings overlooking a meandering stream along a mountain valley scattered with flowering cherry trees, large pine trees, young pine saplings and leafy bamboo, the lid interior decorated en suite, all executed in gold low and high relief (hiramaki-e and takamaki-e), burnished-raised accents (togidashi maki-e), inlay of small gold squares (kirikane) on a gold pear-skin ground (nashiji), the interior also with a pear-skin ground (plain nashiji), with silver edge bands, approx 7"h, 17"l, 13.5"w Start Price: $800.00
