Louis XVI style paint-decorated secretary bookcase, 20th c., in a distressed red-painted finish, having molded cornice, over two cabinet doors with openwork wire mesh panels, opening to five adjustable-height glass shelves, over lower case, fitted with writing slide and two drawers, with contrasting carved swag motifs and ribbon trim, framed by canted fluted corner posts, rising on tapering fluted legs, illuminated upper case interior in need of wiring, approx 90"h, 35"w, 19.5"d
02.17.2026- In my opinion regarding LOT: 1224- please refer to online images for complete and best views, as shown the cabinet is with distressed and worn paint throughout, this may be intentional, the case shows scattered wood wear, nicks and imperfections, the drawers slide well, however are a bit tight, they would benefit from a good waxing, interiors show some staining and wear, glass shelving is overall intact with some small chips noted to corners, edges, they are supported only by wood dowels and not currently installed, doors open smoothly, escutcheons vary in color, chicken wire panels are intact, I am unsure how stable the wood dowels are, the case is in need of new wiring as the current lighting appears unsafe with taped repairs to the cord, overall the case is rustic in nature and in stable condition
