German Meissen porcelain figural group, "The Capture of the Triton," after the original model by Johann Joachim Kaendler (German, 1706-1775), depicting two draped water nymphs and putto, entrapping the infant Triton in a fishing net, blue crossed swords mark underfoot, intact with typical small losses, old professional restorations, see condition report, approx 13"h, 11"w, 7"d, 7.75lbs
1.23.26- In my opinion regarding LOT: the figural group stands sturdy, a careful UV light examination reveals some expected small losses and old restorations, most professional in nature, examples include restoration to the forwardmost putto’s arm, the other putto’s hand, and reduced fingers to the uppermost figure, adhesive is visible under UV light at applied flowers with typical minute chips noted to flower petals along the left edge, the frog exhibits a loss to the right arm and a repair to the opposite arm, the net is intact with an old professional repair and traces of adhesive tape applied over a few very fine hairlines which appear stable, the rear plant shows evidence of repair as does the arm of the lobster, a few shells appear to have possibly been replaced, overall the figures remain largely intact, with expected old professional repairs and scattered losses of varying degree, all wear and condition issues appear commensurate with age and display
