Fine French Provincial Louis XV style walnut buffet deux corps, 18th c., having protruding molded cornice, over frieze with carved scrolling foliates and florals in relief, fitted with four large cabinet doors on long exterior iron hinges, lower case with four additional cabinets, each opening to interior shelving, scrolled apron with central rocaille motif, rising on short cabriole legs ending on whorl feet, with peg joinery and hand-chamfered back paneling, approx 118"h, 109.5"w, 25"d **Provenance: From the Byram Family's Above Stratford Mansion. John Byram, a prominent Austin-based real estate developer, and his late wife Sally Byram curated this French Provincial style estate with the help of notable architects and interior designers. The home has remained untouched since Sally's untimely passing in 2006, serving as a testament to her taste for sophistication and craftsmanship**
03.18.25: In my opinion regarding LOT 2217: I note that the buffet is presently intact and structurally sturdy, with typical evidence of old woodworm commensurate with origin and age, there is some overall separation, notably at the side panels and the scrolled trim of cabinetry, all appearing stable and structurally secure, there is patination of the metal hinges and escutcheons, the medial surface with minor loss to the back right corner, and overall discoloration/ staining commensurate with use, I observe scattered minor splits, some with filled reinforcement, and overall some sparse areas of surface roughness commensurate with minor wear and woodworm clustering, and scattered small fills, I note that there is typical minor surface wear such as light abrasions, scuffs, and small nicks and chips commensurate with use and 18th century origin
