Monumental framed oil on canvas painting, Young Ballerina with Thyrsus and Tambourine, signed lower right P.J. Robert (French, 19th c.), dated 1880, inpainting throughout, sight: approx 69.5"h, 57.5"w, overall: approx 86"h, 74"w, 100lbs
3.25.25-In my opinion regarding LOT: 3306- I am not an expert on such works, please let me know if you have further questions, the painting was examined on the wall please refer to online images for a photo of the back, the canvas is likely relined presumably to stabilize the work, a careful UV light examination reveals old varnish with some minor very fine networks of craquelure and areas of inpainting throughout, of particular note the figure's face has been inpainted, additional inpainting located near the ballerina’s skirt at the front, in the lower left above the tambourine, and intermittently scattered along the outer edges, all visible with UV lighting, there is a possible stabilized repair upper center (above the figure’s head), the canvas here is slightly raised, see image there are some small paint losses along the upper left canvas edge, and a minute small tear at upper left center canvas edge (see image), tiny and minor, I have taken numerous high-resolution photos for your review
The frame is intact with typical rubs, wear, and small chips and losses to the gilt and gesso surfaces, as well as some typical hairlines in frame finish, the frame is overall intact and stable
