French Louis XVI style petite mahogany commode, late 19th c., rectangular case, fitted with three drawers, mounted with brass banding, on metal-capped tapering square legs, approx 32"h, 30 5/8"w, 18.5"d
09.24.24: In my opinion regarding LOT 2423: I note that the commode is presently intact and structurally sturdy, there is chipping concentrated along the front edge of top paneling, much of it with remnants of filled restoration, the metal trim exhibits patination and minor wear/ fading of gilt finish, all remaining secure to drawer panels, all drawers currently operate smoothly, and there is tonal variation throughout the case from areas of finish wear, fading, and some minor staining and spotting, and there is a vertical split extending down the right-hand side panel, I observe typical surface wear such as minor chipping and nicks commensurate with age and use
