Evans earned multiple excellence in competition badges throughout his service culminating in the award of the U.S. Air Force Distinguished Rifleman badge, number 84, and was a member of the President's 100, awarded to the 100 top scoring military and civilian shooters in the President's Pistol and President's Rifle Matches.
