Renaissance Revival carved walnut armchair, early 20th c., having scrolled foliate crest with winged cherub motifs, over sloped arms with figural satyrs, scrolled handholds, padded back and seat in later brown upholstery, with nail head trim, rising on curule base, joined by spiral twist H-stretcher, crest intact with glue restorations, approx 36"h, 25"w, 27"d, seat height: 13.5"h
10.14.25: As described the crest is intact with glue restoration, I note that the chair is structurally sturdy and sits well, the leather upholstery remains securely bound to frame and is free from observed holes or tearing, having some typical abrasions and light scuffs consistent with age and use, the back right-hand corner of the seat with a minute spot of what appears to be adhesive reinforcement of minor peeling, the scroll supports under the arms with some glue reinforcement at the joinery to curule base, I observe a minute loss of a singular nail head trimming the seat near the front right corner, and scattered minor splits, all are typical and appear structurally stable, I observe minor evidence of old woodworm commensurate with origin, and typical minor surface wear, which is sparse such as small chips and a couple of minute fills commensurate with age and use
