Scarce English Georgian style flame mahogany barrister's bookcase, early 20th c., having molded cornice, over four tiers of bookcases with retracting glazed doors, lower slant-front case revealing fitted gallery with three small drawers, and embossed inset leather writing surface, above two drawers, and dual cabinet doors enclosing fixed shelving, rising on paw feet, approx 99"h, 83.25"w, 20.5"d
CR 1.5.26 - In my opinion regarding LOT: 2222- the piece is stately and unusual, the case is sturdy and stable with glass pains intact and shelving secure, I note some nicks, rubs, tonal variation, minor imperfections and alligatoring to the finish mostly concentrated to the fall-front, the fall front seems to stick on the right side, if you start the slide on that side, it opens smoothly, interior is fitted and leather intact, leather is mellowed with some dents and wear, lower doors open smoothly, interior shows light wear, a very small trim piece above the left foot at canted corner, is possibly replaced as the color slightly varies, see image, all mentioned commensurate with the age and display of the cabinet
