5.22.26-In my opinion regarding LOT: 2285- please note that I am not an expert on such works so have taken numerous high resolution images for your review, the canvas does not appear to be relined, a careful UV light examination reveals a heavy layer of old varnish throughout, I note very minor, scattered areas of possible inpainting, mostly observed around portions of the cottages and rooflines, a faint stretcher line is visible along the upper and left perimeter, the surface presents with a fine network of craquelure, most concentrated throughout the sky and cloud passages, a minute paint flake/loss is noted to the left of the signature, the canvas reverse does not reveal any apparent patches, relining, or significant restorations, the painted frame presents with continued loss and flaking to the applied gesso trim elements, the ornamentation is fragile in areas and continues to shed, a small bag containing a few of the the detached fragments has been affixed to the reverse, the frame securely houses the work, all observed wear and condition issues appear consistent with the age, handling and display of the work
