Scarce Smith & Wesson Model 3, Second Model Single Action Revolver, AKA "Model 3 American", mfg. 1872-1874, nickel finish, .44 Rimfire caliber, 8" round barrel, steel blade front sight, the barrel marked with one line address and last patent date of "Aug. 24. 1869," top break, six round fluted cylinder with shell ejector, back of cylinder stamped "V" and "497," a factory installed "filler" screw behind the SN at the buttplate where a lanyard screw was installed on non-commercial models, pearl grips, substantial nickel finish loss, action is good, bore is bright with good rifling and light pitting, SN 25980  *Note: This example has quarter and full notch stops when hammer is retracted.
