10.1.24-LOT 3194: The pair are impressive in size, I note that both bronzes are presently intact with no evidence of restoration, they are securely fixed to plinth base at the hooves, each having light tonal variation, patination, sparse spotting, and some areas of very slight mellowing such as the back of the elk, the overall hue of the ormolu remains vibrant and rich, the trim along the lower edge of short sides of base have an inherent visible seam, the base exhibits only slight abrasions, and a light build up of surface grime commensurate with storage, the underside has a black shoe polish-like residue, we do not know its origin or purpose
