(pair) Monumental Louis XVI style bronze dore five-light wall sconces, each having ribbon crest, above shield-form plaque with figural mask, issuing scrolled arms and faux candles, terminating on sheet music and instrument motifs, mounted on upholstered back, in need of wiring, approx 108"h, 30"w, 13"d
02.09.26 - The pair present as stately and visually impressive in scale, the monumental bronze dore sconces are mounted to backing panels lined with what appears to be antique fabric, the fabric exhibits small losses and areas of loose trim along the perimeter edges, it is possible the panels were formerly framed or built in, scattered picks, pulls, small holes, and areas of fading and discoloration are present to the fabric, each panel terminates at the lower section with a carved wood panel, the ornate bronze components appear complete and intact overall, exhibiting light rubs, inherent casting pitting, and a softened, mellowed patina, the lower section of one example shows the presence of a screw suggesting a possible former element, though no corresponding feature is present on the other, both examples are secured at the center with wire, it is unclear whether this serves as reinforcement or later stabilization, electrical wiring is present, however rewiring is always recommended as the operational status and condition of the existing wiring is unknown, all consistent with age, display and use
