(lot of 3) French Louis XVI style bonze dore garniture set, late 19th c., including: (1) mantle clock, having urn-form finial, above architectural case with acanthus scrollwork, figural masks, and shield motifs, centering gilt dial with porcelain Roman numeral hour markers, unmarked time-and-strike movement, rising on paw feet, accompanied by pendulum and key, observed operating, back access door separated from hinge and resting loosely on frame, approx 19.25"h, 12"w, 6.5"d; (2) conforming five-branch candelabra garnitures, each having waisted standard over scrolled base, approx 21.25"h, 8"w, 8"d; 51.5lbs total
CR 8.18.25- As noted in the catalog description, the clock was observed operating and appears to keep good time. It is accompanied by a pendulum and a key, and the bell and striker resound nicely when manually struck. The suspension spring is intact. As mentioned, the back access door is separated from the hinge where it was once connected, and currently rests loosely on the circular door frame. The clock winds with ease, and the movement responds to winding appropriately. While it appears to keep good time, we recommend it be professionally inspected to ensure it tells accurate time. As with all of our antique clocks, this piece would likely benefit from a professional adjustment and a thorough cleaning of the movement. Detailed condition reports are not included in this catalog.
