French Louis XVI style mahogany commode, after the original design by Jean-Francois Leleu (French, 1729-1807), early 20th c., having marble top over shaped mahogany and matched veneer case, fitted with frieze drawer mounted with bronze dore scrolling grapes and foliage, over two standard drawers, rising on string-inlaid tapering legs ending on gilt metal caps, verso of case stamped FL, one lockplate has been removed to reveal the E. Schmidt a Paris stamp, approx 36.75"h, 60"w, 26"d **Provenance: the contents of the prominent San Antonio Holt Family's Terrell Hills home**
9.24.24-In my opinion regarding LOT: 3229- the structure stands sturdy, the marble top is intact with some typical roughness/minute chipping, concentrated mostly along the edges and surface abrasions, the wood case is intact with only some very light wear, I note an abrasion and two small areas of veneer loss at the center of the two lower drawers, see images, interior drawers are largely clean, the interior bottom of the lower drawer has a split at the center support and a small gap where bottom meets the facade, this could likely be pushed forward, see images, ormolu is intact with some spotting, patination, and rubs, it is present throughout with no observed missing or broken pieces, I am not an expert on such furniture, so I have taken numerous high-resolution for your review
