Antique American "Model I" women's double-reach safety bicycle, Ames Manufacturing Company, late 19th c., with bentwood wheels and gear frame, maker's plaque at head tube, fitted with metal bell and "The Christy" model padded seat, in worn leather upholstery, seat patented Apr. 19, [18]98, unrestored, some evidence of old repairs, would likely benefit from a professional restoration and a thorough cleaning, accompanied by (three) spare bentwood rims, (one) Ames Sword Company metal bike lock, patent 1882, (one) Norea bike pump, (two) Ames Company lapel pins, and (one) steel and leather mount, bicycle overall: approx 37.5"h, 68"w, 16"d, each rim: approx 25"diam (measurements for shipping purposes only) **Provenance: This bicycle was purchased new by the consignor's family. The last image in the listing shows a sales receipt from Manchester Hardware Company, a retailer of Ames bicycles and sporting goods, dated 1897. Documents and ephemera not included in auction sale.**
